Christmas season is party season. December calls for Christmas market visits and mulled wine get together with friends but also neighbors and colleagues. It starts with the obligatory company Christmas party and ends with the year end and the New Years Eve party.
When we are invited to somebody’s house we usually bring a good bottle of red wine. Since it is Christmas, I am trying to bring something more thoughtful and a bit more of a little present – I really like offering hyacinths. The glasses I put them in are actually candle holders but I find they make perfect vases in this case and you can still use them for candles later. When you get hyacinths in December they are usually still closed, so you can just put the root in the little glass. Don’t worry if they are a bit smaller hyacinths survive quite well without much soil.
Like this they add a bit of fresh green and as soon as we start getting rid of our Christmas decorations and get ready for the new year and a fresh start, they start popping open and just look lovely on any tray table or side board.
